A KFC outlet near Akbar Chowk in Lahore’s Township area was targeted in a petrol bomb attack by unidentified assailants on motorcycles. According to police, the attackers hurled petrol-filled bottles at the restaurant’s entrance, igniting a sudden blaze.
The incident was caught on CCTV, and footage has been taken into custody by authorities to aid in the investigation. A police officer on site fired aerial shots in an attempt to stop the attackers, but they escaped before they could be apprehended.
Law enforcement is currently analyzing CCTV footage to identify the culprits and expressed confidence in making arrests soon.
This comes a day after a KFC worker was reportedly killed during an attack on another branch in Sheikhupura, where protesters linked to a radical Islamist party targeted the fast food chain during an anti-Israel demonstration.
These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over the safety of international franchises amid growing unrest linked to the Middle East conflict.
