Similar to other parts of the country, Karachi’s main 9th Muharram procession will depart from Nishtar Park at 1 PM, with all security measures finalized, as reported by national media.
According to details, before the main procession of 9th Muharram sets out in Karachi, a majlis (gathering) will be held at Nishtar Park, where Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi will address.
After the majlis concludes, the Zuhrain prayers will be offered, organized by the Imamia Students Organization. The procession will proceed through Numaish, Saddar, Radio Pakistan, Jama Cloth, and Denso Hall, culminating at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar after the Zuhrain prayers.
In Punjab’s capital Lahore, the main procession of 9th Muharram set out from Pandu Street at 10 AM, with more than 147,000 officers and personnel assigned to security duties.
Special security instructions have been issued to the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit (PRU) for the 9th Muharram. The Dolphin and PRU teams will perform patrol duties in shifts.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dolphin, Arsalan Zahid, said that Dolphin and PRU will conduct round-the-clock patrolling during Ashura. Teams will also be deployed at imambargahs, other majalis gatherings, and sensitive locations.
He added that the Dolphin Squad will remain in constant contact with 1122, fire brigade, Rescue 15, and other agencies, and special care will be taken to ensure the safety of women and children at various locations and imambargahs.
