In an innovative leap for Pakistan’s defense technology, students from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Khairpur Campus, have developed a cutting-edge, AI-powered robot equipped with a laser gun capable of destroying targets within seconds. The robot offers a safer and more cost-effective alternative to traditional military methods, with the potential to significantly bolster the country’s defense capabilities.
The AI-driven robot is designed to minimize casualties among security forces by enabling remote-controlled operations. It can accurately identify and target both moving and stationary objects on land or in the air. The groundbreaking prototype was introduced at the 4th Research and Technology Showcase at the Karachi Expo Centre, where it received widespread attention, including praise from Sindh’s Chief Minister.
If adopted, Pakistan could become the first Islamic nation and the fifth country globally to implement such advanced defense technology, joining nations like the United States and South Korea in utilizing laser-powered defense systems.
Powered by a hybrid electric system, the robot’s laser gun eliminates the need for traditional ammunition and fires at the speed of light. With infrared sensors and advanced cameras, the robot currently has a range of six feet, but future enhancements could extend its capabilities, including the potential to intercept missiles and protect critical infrastructure.
This breakthrough marks a significant milestone for Pakistan’s growing expertise in robotics and AI, potentially revolutionizing the country’s defense sector and setting a precedent for technological advancements in military operations.
