The Karachi Traffic Police has announced plans to deploy robots for issuing e-challans under the city’s expanding E-Tracks system.
During an event, DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah revealed that this will be the third method introduced for electronic ticketing — this time through robotic patrols.
He explained that from next month, “No Parking” and “No Two-Lane” signboards will be placed across several busy areas, including Saddar and Tariq Road. The new robots will move along these routes at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour.
According to Shah, the robots will automatically scan passing vehicles, and any found violating parking or lane regulations will be issued e-challans directly through the system.
He added that within just two weeks of the E-Tracks system’s launch, nearly 50,000 motorists in Karachi have already been fined for traffic violations.
