KARACHI: The district administration has compiled an initial investigation report into the tragic incident of deaths of 12 people who lost their lives while trying to collect charity in Site Factory area the other day. This comes amid reports that the owner of the factory Abdul Khaliq has already been arrested.
According to the report, the factory management did not inform the district administration or the police about the charity distribution event, and they had not even received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the district administration to gather and distribute charity at such a large scale.
The incident occurred when the charity distribution of Zakat was underway, and a large crowd had gathered inside the factory. The factory gate was reportedly closed during the stampede, as per the district administration report.
Furthermore, there was accumulated water inside the factory, which may have contributed to the worsening of situation during the stampede.
The investigation report has been submitted by ADC Keamari-I to Commissioner Karachi, highlighting the negligence and lack of adherence to safety protocols by the factory administration.
The incident has sparked outrage and calls for stricter safety regulations in such events to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
