PMD had forecasted the rain earlier, saying that there was a chance of thunderstorms with strong winds in scattered places of Sindh, including the capital Karachi. As per the met department, the fresh spell of rainfall would persist for two days.
Areas that received heavy rainfall include DHA, Jamshed Road, Model Colony, Saddar, Clifton, Malir, Gulistan-e-Johar, Dhoraji, Bahadurabad, PECHS, Soldier Bazaar, University Road, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Abdullah Haroon Road, Shah Faisal Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Fawwara Chowk, M.A. Jinnah Road, and Garden.
Meanwhile, K-Electric has suspended power supply to multiple areas of the metropolis as soon as the light rain started. On the other hand, the problems for the citizens further increased as the majority of the areas are flooded with rainwater.
There were traffic jams on numerous thoroughfares in the city, including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Johar Morr, Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Raod, Denso Hall, Zainab Market, and M.A. Jinnah Road.
Last week, 15 people, including a child, had died of electrocution as light rain continued to pound many areas of the metropolis.
