Karachi protest rally against killing of Iranian commander

KARACHI: A large number of people from religious political parties and different NGOs activist holding a protest rally in United States Consulate in the metropolis on Sunday against the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in a US airstrike.
Majlis Wahdat ul Muslimeen (MWM), Imamia Students Organization, different NGOs activist and other political parties’ members holding a rally that will start from Karachi Press Club and march to the United States Consulate in Karachi’s Sultanabad area.
Iranian Major-General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the elite Quds Force, was killed in the wee hours of Friday in a US airstrike at Baghdad airport.
Due to the protest rally, the roads leading to the US Consulate, including Moulvi Tameezuddin Khan Road, Mai Kolachi Bypass, Aiwan-e-Saddar road and Ziauddin Road in the red zone have been closed.
While the traffic police have advised the citizen to use I.I. Chundrigar Road for the alternate route from Tower to Boat Basin and Sultanabad to Tower, for their travel.
A militia spokesperson said another commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis was also killed in the attack, Iraqi military groups said on Friday that three rockets strike Baghdad International Airport, as a result, five members of Iraqi paramilitary groups and two guests were killed.
