KARACHI: A prayer leader was injured during a robbery attempt at Karachi’s Jamshed Road on Saturday.
According to police sources, the prayer leader was injured while resisting a robbery attempt on Karachi’s Jamshed road. The injured man has been identified as Mufti Abdullah Omar.
Meanwhile, area people caught the robber from the crime scene and handed over him to the police. The alleged dacoit was shifted to the police station for further investigation.
The injured man was to Civil Hospital Karachi where his condition is said to be critical. In another firing incident, a man was killed in the city’s central district earlier on Saturday.
The police have expressed their suspicion that the incident was not a random mugging but a target-killing as the culprits did not snatch the belongings from the slain.
Police said Bashir was associated as a driver with an online ride-hailing service who they suspect might have been followed and killed in a targeted bid as his belongings remained on the scene.
Earlier, in a brief exchange of fire between personnel and suspected dacoits, one suspect was killed. The police confirmed they killed one suspect after engaging in a gun battle in the Federal B area of Karachi’s District Center.
They recovered the weapon, mobile phones, and cash from the deceased suspect while two of his accomplices managed to flee the scene, police confirmed.
