Karachi’s Commissioner has imposed a ban on the entry of two-plus-one and four-plus-one rickshaws on several major roads of the city.
Following the new restrictions, the movement of rickshaw drivers across Karachi has been significantly limited.
According to details, the Commissioner of Karachi has issued an official notification prohibiting the entry of two-plus-one and four-plus-one rickshaws on 20 major roads of the city. The scope of the rickshaw ban has now been extended to a total of 26 major routes.
As per the notification, four-plus-one motor cab rickshaws have been barred from operating on six major arteries of Karachi.
The decision to restrict rickshaw movement was made based on the recommendations of the DIG Traffic. The ban on rickshaws from Shahrah-e-Faisal to II Chundrigar Road has been enforced immediately.
Meanwhile, the ban on rickshaw operations on 20 prominent roads of the city will remain effective until December 17, 2025.
