Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted partly cloudy skies accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers in Karachi today. Deputy Director Anjum Nazir indicated that westerly winds are slated to impact the city from Wednesday (today), with expectations of moderate to heavy rainfall in various locations.
According to the PMD, there is a possibility of heavy rain in multiple areas throughout Karachi and the surrounding regions. The weather conditions are part of a broader pattern affecting several districts in Sindh, including Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Matiari, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allah Yar, Umerkot, Tharparker, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Nosheroferoz, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Dadu.
Besides these, rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and isolated hailstorms are anticipated in these districts over the next two days, specifically March 18 and 19.
In light of the predicted severe weather, the PMD also alerted residents to the potential for lightning strikes in isolated areas, with farmers being advised to manage their crops prudently in preparation for the conditions.
The PMD’s three-day forecast reveals that the minimum temperature in Karachi will dip to 21°C, with highs reaching up to 35°C. This forecast aligns with previous predictions from the PMD, which noted the likelihood of rain, wind, and thunderstorms across various parts of the country from March 17 to 20.
Residents are urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of adverse weather conditions.
