Authorities in Karachi shut MT Khan Road again on Tuesday due to the city’s ongoing security situation, traffic police said.
The move follows violent unrest on Sunday in which ten people were killed during protests over the reported assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in alleged US-Israeli attacks. Authorities have also extended a ban on public gatherings and rallies across Sindh.
According to an early morning alert issued at 5:38am, both sides of MT Khan Road were shut from the PIDC signal to Jinnah Bridge.

Traffic from PIDC was diverted to Khajoor Chowk and Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Road, while vehicles from Jinnah Bridge were redirected toward II Chundrigar Road.
Later, at 9:21am, police reported heavy congestion on II Chundrigar Road toward Tower and Shaheen Complex due to the closure. Citizens were advised to call the Traffic Helpline at 1915 and tune in to FM 88.6 for updates.
