Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut recently commented on the Kapoor family’s meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival, celebrating the legendary actor’s 100th birth anniversary.
Kangana praised the initiative and expressed her support for PM Modi’s involvement with the film industry, describing it as a significant step. She also emphasized the challenges the industry faces, stating that it lacks direction and needs proper guidance. During an interview at Agenda Aaj Tak, Kangana was asked about the meeting with the Kapoor family, as she has been waiting for an opportunity to meet the PM herself.
She responded, “I believe our film industry needs guidance. This is a form of soft power that is underutilized. Whether it’s PM Modi, other leaders, or the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, I’ve been part of the industry for 20 years, and it feels completely abandoned. The industry has no direction, and anyone can influence it, whether it’s a Jihadi or Palestinian agenda.
They have no guidance, no clear path.” Kangana pointed out that the film industry is often vulnerable, with individuals lured into questionable activities that can damage their reputation. She said, “They’re given money to do anything, even attending gangster parties. Many end up involved in hawala or drugs. The industry is vulnerable; people feel that they can do anything without consequences.”
Kangana also appreciated the Kapoor family’s efforts to bring more recognition to the film industry, saying, “It’s a great move to focus on mainstream issues. We generate so much revenue through films, yet we don’t get the same recognition as other industries. I’ve requested a meeting with PM Modi and hope he will call me someday.” The Kapoor family met PM Modi on December 10 to personally invite him to the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. Among those present were Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Neetu Kapoor, and Riddhima Sahni.
