A notorious dacoit from the Kacha area of Sindh, Fareedu Teegani, was shot dead, while his companion, Malan Mazari Teegani, was arrested in an injured condition during a joint operation by police and Pakistan Rangers in Garhi Taigu Kacha, media reports said on Sunday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahzaib Chachar confirmed that a gang of dacoits attacked a police checkpoint in the area.
SSP Chachar further stated that the deceased dacoit, Fareedu Teegani, was involved in multiple criminal activities, including murders, kidnappings for ransom, and other crimes along the National Highway. The SSP also revealed that Teegani had been implicated in 44 different criminal cases.
The SSP mentioned that Teegani had been killed by police officer Munawar Jatoi and photographer Haseeb Shaikh during the operation. He added that Teegani’s criminal activities included kidnapping individuals using a honey trap technique, after which he demanded ransom. The accused dacoit would record videos of the kidnapped victims and upload them on social media to pressure the victims’ families for ransom.
SSP Shahzaib Chachar further said that the joint operation by police and Pakistan Rangers against the dacoits of the Kacha area had been ongoing for the last 25 days. During this period, 12 dacoits were killed, and 12 others were injured.
He emphasized that the operation would continue until all criminals in the Kacha area were eliminated.
