Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi is ready to face inquiry following allegations of possessing assets beyond means, it emerged on Friday.
According to details, Justice Naqvi is willing to appear before an inquiry committee to address allegations of possessing assets beyond his means, Samaa tv reported citing family sources of the apex court judge.
The accusations relate to his daughter’s schooling in the UK, the building of a home in Lahore, and the law company of his sons.
The family claimed that all of these assets were acquired lawfully and that they have all the necessary records to back up their assertion.
“If the Chief Justice of Pakistan forms an inquiry committee, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi is ready to appear before it with all the supporting records in his defense,” one of the family members was quoted as saying in Samma tv.
Family sources claimed that transactions of over 22,000 pounds were made from Justice Naqvi’s personal accounts in response to suspicions that his daughter had been defrauded to pay for her education in the UK.
According to sources, the transactions were completed in 2022 in two installments after receiving State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) approval.
Regarding claims that a four-kanal house is currently being built in Lahore, family sources claim that Justice Naqvi sold two homes totaling 2.5 kanals each (144-E-1 Gulberg III Lahore and 375-DHS Defence Housing Society, Phase II Gujranwala), and then he bought the new land to build the new home.
The family source asserted to have sales documents and tax statements with all necessary information on the homes and plots the judge and his family owned.
