Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) leader Maulana Noorullah escaped unharmed an assassination bid on Thursday near a seminary in the Lower South Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to police reports.
The blast occurred near Shahzad Madrassah, adjacent to the district’s Azam Warsak market and in close proximity to a local police station. Authorities confirmed that the explosion was intended to target Maulana Noorullah, who fortunately escaped unharmed.
Police reported no casualties resulting from the incident. Security personnel immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the bombing.
In a video message released later by JUI-F, Maulana Noorullah said that he was accompanied by fellow party members Maulana Ishaq and Maulana Amanullah at the time of the explosion. He assured his supporters of his safety and expressed gratitude for the concern shown.
On Tuesday, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded outside the residence of Member of the National Assembly Mubarak Zeb in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing partial damage to the property, police confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Bajaur District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafique, the device had been planted at the main gate of the house. “The explosion occurred during the night while the MNA was not present at home,” he was quoted as saying in Dawn.com.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, and a search operation is currently underway to apprehend those responsible.
