SINDH: In efforts to increase its global outreach and collaborations, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has joined two international networks, the United Nations Academic Impact and the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI).
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Tariq Rafi explained that the membership of UN Academic impact makes JSMU one of 1400 institutions in 145 countries who are working with the United Nations to promote global priorities, including peace, human rights, and sustainable development.
The Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) was created and supported by UNESCO and the United Nations University, dealing with state of the art of innovative processes in higher education across the world.
According to JSMU’s Director Quality Enhancement Cell Dr Abdul Wahid Usmani, JSMU now has the opportunity to join international projects and research initiatives constituted by Global University Network for Innovation.
Usmani further said these networks also offer financial support for civic engagement initiatives and public recognition for excellence in engaged scholarship.
He said that this membership will strengthen the varsity existing community engagement profile which includes collaborative projects in areas of violence against healthcare staff, healthcare needs assessment, disaster management, and capacity building in impecunious districts of the province.
It is worth to mentioning here that the Jinnah Sindh Medical University is a leading medical university in Pakistan, particularly renowned as an initiator of the modular method of teaching in public sector medical universities. The varsity has an outstanding team of department heads, and staff to assist students.
