Addressing a press conference, SSP Sumair Noor Chana stated that two individuals murdered Gadani while a third facilitated the crime. He identified the person taken into custody as Asghar Lond, while raids are underway to apprehend Barkat Lond and Abdullah Lond, who allegedly acted as facilitators. “Lond is currently being interrogated to ascertain the motive of the crime and to locate his accomplices,” he explained.
The official added that the police have recovered the motorcycle and weapons used in the journalist’s killing from the possession of the suspect.
Providing further details, the SSP mentioned that the police were able to apprehend the culprits with the assistance of the latest technology.
The journalist came under attack 19 days ago while traveling from his home to Mirpur Mathelo. Initially, he was taken to Rahim Yar Khan’s Sheikh Zayed Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The murder sparked a sit-in outside the SSP’s office, with protestors also blocking the National Highway. The protest ended only after the SSP assured the arrest of the perpetrators within three days.
