Jay Z has been implicated in a federal lawsuit alleging that he sexually abused a 13-year-old girl following the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, prompting a strong reaction on social media.
The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, claims that both Jay Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her while another female celebrity observed. The lawsuit, which initially only included Combs, was refiled on Sunday in New York to include Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.
According to the lawsuit, the woman alleges she was assaulted after being taken to an afterparty for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. The suit states, “Defendant Sean Combs, along with his longtime friend and collaborator Shawn Carter (a/k/a ‘Jay Z’), drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards.” It further claims, “Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor,” as reported by People Magazine.
Following the revelation, outraged fans took to social media, urging Jay Z’s wife, Beyoncé, to consider divorce. One comment read, “I’m surprised Beyoncé stayed with him and did not divorce him after all these years.” Another user remarked, “If you don’t divorce this man, he cheated on you and now this,” while a third added, “Beyoncé, take Adele’s advice and divorce that man.”
