ISLAMABAD: The Jahangir Baloch Panel has been declared successful in the annual elections of the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association on Saturday.
The annual election of the Journalists Association was held in the High Court in which a large number of members participated.
On this occasion, senior journalist Nayyar Waheed Rawat, Makhdoom M Niaz Revolutionary Advocate and Abrar Hussain Raza performed the services of the Election Committee.
Nomination papers were submitted by two groups, one group later withdrew its nomination papers in the wider interest of journalists, after which the Election Committee declared the Jahangir Baloch panel successful and issued a notification.
According to the result, Jahangir Baloch elected as President of Islamabad High Court Journalists Association, General Secretary Raja Israr Hussain, Senior Vice President Farrukh Nawaz Bhatti, Vice President Mansoor Zafar, Senior Joint Secretary Shahid Amin Rao, Joint Secretary Izhar Khan Niazi, Finance Secretary Syed Muhammad Yaseen.
In addition, Information Secretary Fida Khan and members of the governing body Raja Wasim Abbasi, Mazhar Sheikh, Safiq Bhatti, Sobia Musharraf and Syed Shahid Waheed have been elected for one year.
Advocate General Niazullah Niazi, Spokesperson of Islamabad High Court Asif Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat and IG Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman congratulated the newly elected body and expressed best wishes.
They said, “There is a need to work together for the supremacy of law so that the dream of the welfare state can be realized. Bar, bench and media together can play an important role for the supremacy of law,” they added.
