Its high time to begin trade negotiations seriously with EU: Trump

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump said Monday it is high time to start trade talks with the European Union which he said places extraordinary restrictions on US products.
Following a number of trade agreements with Canada, Mexico, and Japan, and a stage-one agreement with China, Trump said, “The next step might be Germany, where we should be negotiating very seriously about them,” adding he said “Europe has treated us very unfairly,” after a meeting with US state governors at the White House.

Trump has imposed sanctions against European products such as French wine in steel products, while he said our government subsidies for Airbus and a levy on internet companies such as Google and Amazon. But since then he has been holding off on new trade tariffs on European cars intended at forcing a trade policy change.
In mid-2018, when both sides agreed to initiate discussions, Trump negotiated an agreement with the EU. However, negotiations that have not yet led to anything substantive.
