Islamabad’s Sector H-13 residents end protest after assurances from Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD: A protest camp in Islamabad’s Sector H-13 for the provision of basic facilities has been wrapped up after receiving assurances from Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Asad Umar.

The federal minister, who was elected from NA-54 constituency, had assured to resolve the area’s problem on priority. Residents had staged a protest on Kashmir Highway reminding the federal minister to fulfill his electoral promises for the provision of civic amenities in the area.

According to the residents, the area lacks basic civic amenities such as the provision of gas, electricity, water and sewerage along with the absence of a dispensary, school and a post office. They also complained about the condition of streets and roads in the area.

They claimed that Asad Umar had vowed to set up a school and dispensary during election campaigning and provide civic amenities but no efforts have been made despite the passage of over two years.

The protestor thanked the MM news for raising their concerns. They said that Asad Umar’s had reached out to them and provided a written statement assuring to resolve their issues. The agreement said that basic facilities such as water, power and gas and the construction of roads will be done on a priority basis.
