Islamabad residents protest against CDA operation

ISLAMABAD: Distressed residents of Sector G-9-2 in Islamabad have protested against operations conducted by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) without a notice.

Residents started protesting when the machinery for the operation against so-called illegal constructions reached the area. Talking to MM News the residents said no advance notice was given about today’s operation in the area. They alleged that the CDA broke down the gates and the pillars of their houses and insulted them during the operations.

The residents said, “We have been living here for a long time, we have set up sheds in front of our houses because cars and motorcycles are stolen in our sector, there is no effective security arrangement in the area. We built these sheds in front of the house so that we could keep our vehicles safe,” they added.

The victims said that the CDA only conducted operations in the area despite taking legal action against large illegal plazas are being built in Islamabad. “We will vacate the place ourselves but first our security should be arranged,” they said.
