ISLAMABAD: Police have taken action against rising street crimes in the federal capital and arrested a six-member gang involved in robberies and looting citizens.
CIA Police Station conducted a raid after receiving a tip-off at the Sabzi Mandi and industrial area and arrested a gang involved in looting shops at gunpoint
The suspects were involved in a wide range of criminal activities in Sector I-9 and Sector I-10 and had created an element of fear among local residents. They were also involved in looting women and families at gunpoint and used to flee to their native areas after the incident.
Islamabad police had formed a special squad to apprehend the suspects and conducted a raid to nab them after frantic efforts for more than two weeks.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Irfan, Qadim Shah, Anaar Gul, Khan Muhammad, Hameed and Ahmed Shah. Several cases were already lodged against them in the Sabzi Mandi police station.
