ISLAMABAD: The family of a 26-year-old youth has accused the police of torturing him in the Khanpur area of Rawalpindi.
According to the details, Khanpur Police Station, SHO along with other police took Noman Iqbal son of Zafar Iqbal, resident of Juma Jandal Taxila, Rawalpindi without reason and severely beat him.
The family alleged Noman Iqbal was blindfolded and left at an unknown location after severely torturing. The family has appealed to IG Islamabad to order fully investigate the incident and dismiss the SHO of Khanpur police station.
Earlier, a local vendor in Islamabad had accused several police officials of beating and looting him at a police station.
According to details, the incident took place at Ramna police station. The victim, identified as Shah Jahan, informed that the police officials summoned him at Ramna police station without any reason.
The vendor claimed that police personnel including Haider Ali, the post-in-charge, and Constable Umer, along with four unidentified persons abused and thrashed him for almost two hours.
“The police personnel continued harassing me by firing near my feet,” Shah Jahan said, adding that the accused officers also took off his watch and forcibly looted Rs 50,000.
He claimed that they filmed the entire scene and tore his clothes, adding he can easily identify the policemen. The victim had urged the higher authorities and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Islamabad to take notice of the incident and arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
