The Pakistan Airports Authority has sanctioned the outsourcing of management control for Islamabad International Airport to a Turkish consortium, TERG, for a duration of 15 years, marking a significant advancement in the nation’s aviation industry.
This decision was reached during a board of directors meeting led by Secretary Aviation Ahsan Mangi. The board approved the Turkish consortium’s proposal, which accounts for 47.25 percent of the project’s total cost.
Sources within the aviation ministry have indicated that the subsequent step will involve obtaining the federal cabinet’s approval to formalize the agreement.
This initiative is part of a larger strategy aimed at improving operational efficiency across Pakistan’s airports.
Additionally, the government is contemplating the outsourcing of management for the airports in Karachi and Lahore in the near future.
