Iran has warned US President Donald Trump that it will respond forcefully to any act of American aggression.
Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that if Iran is attacked, Israel and US military bases across the region would be considered legitimate targets.
According to reports, the Israeli Prime Minister and the US Secretary of State have held a telephone conversation to discuss the possibility of American involvement in Iran.
News agencies say that, in view of a potential US strike, Israel has also been placed on high alert.
It is worth recalling that US President Donald Trump had earlier stated in a message shared on social media that the United States is ready to support Iranian protesters. He clarified, however, that intervention does not mean deploying troops inside Iran.
Trump said that the situation in Iran is being closely monitored and claimed that people appear to have taken control of some Iranian cities. He added that the Iranian government had treated its citizens badly for years and is now facing the consequences of its actions.
