Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday that a long-anticipated agreement between the United States and Iran was expected to be finalised very soon, adding that Pakistan will be represented at the signing ceremony by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Speaking on political and international affairs, Naqvi expressed optimism about ongoing diplomatic efforts involving Washington and Tehran, saying indications suggest that the agreement is nearing completion.
“The US-Iran agreement will be concluded very soon,” Naqvi said, adding that the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal would represent Pakistan in connection with the development.
Naqvi also linked global economic challenges to instability in various parts of the world, noting that international tensions have contributed to fluctuations in oil prices. He maintained that Pakistan had managed the situation effectively through diplomatic engagement and strategic planning.
According to Naqvi, the government utilized its international relations to secure fuel supplies and shield the country from a much larger increase in petroleum prices.
He claimed that without these efforts, fuel prices in Pakistan could have risen by as much as Rs250.
Expressing satisfaction with the country’s current position, Naqvi said Pakistan had successfully navigated a difficult period and that the overall situation had improved considerably.
