Iran has confirmed the death of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri, who was critically injured during defensive operations following recent US and Israeli strikes.
According to Iranian media outlet Tasnim News Agency, the IRGC announced in a statement that Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri was wounded while reinforcing defensive positions along Iran’s coastal areas and islands after operations against enemy targets.
The IRGC described him as a dedicated and experienced commander who served for many years and played a key role during the recent escalation.
It added that Iran had targeted significant enemy positions in its recent operations and continues efforts to strengthen its defence systems.
According to Tasnim, Iranian officials stated that such sacrifices strengthen national resolve and that operations, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, will continue with full intensity.
Arab media reports also indicated that the death toll from recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran has reached 2,076.
