So as the story goes, an American woman Onia Andrew Robinson, 33, came all the way from New York only to find herself stranded on stranded at the airport without money.
Onia, hoping to build a future with her 19-year-old boyfriend from Karachi’s Garden East neighborhood. A mother of two, took a leap of faith, divorcing her husband and traveling to Pakistan in October on a 30-day travel permit. However, her dreams were shattered upon arrival when her boyfriend abandoned her, reportedly due to his family’s disapproval of their age difference.
Stranded and devastated, Onia was left at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi without money, accommodation, or a valid visa, which had since expired. Her plight came to light when Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, who arranged for Onia’s return home. He ensured her visa and plane ticket were secured, bringing her ordeal to an end and allowing her to return to the U.S.
Onia revealed that she had sacrificed everything to be with her boyfriend, only to discover that his affection had been insincere. Rejected and without resources, she had been living at the airport for a week, unable to return to the United States.
