Jay Shah officially began his tenure as Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday, taking charge of the global cricketing body.
“I am honored to assume the role of ICC Chair and deeply appreciate the support and trust of the ICC Directors and Member Boards,” Shah said in a statement released by the ICC.
Shah, who has served as Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since 2019, brings extensive administrative experience to the position.
A former district and state-level cricket administrator in the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), he has also served as President of the Asian Cricket Council and Chair of the ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs Committee.
“This is an exciting period for cricket as we gear up for the LA28 Olympic Games and work to make the sport more inclusive and widely embraced,” Shah said. “We face significant opportunities, such as balancing multiple formats, accelerating the growth of women’s cricket, and expanding the game’s global reach. Our goal is to engage with both existing and new fans while ensuring top-tier resources and platforms for players worldwide.”
Shah’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for cricket, as the ICC focuses on fostering innovation and expanding the sport’s global footprint.
