Bollywood actor Kalki Koechlin has condemned the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The actress took to Instagram to voice her concerns about the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Koechlin re-shared a post that reads, “[ ] hundreds of thousands of people enduring starvation and disease without access to medical care and incessant bombardments and gunfire defies comprehension, because Israel has cut them off from the world.” The post also calls for “all international bodies and institutions to act now to compel Israel to stop the war and end the carnage.”
In her caption, Kalki condemns the Israeli government’s recent actions in Northern Gaza, which she describes as “nothing less than ethnic cleansing.” She elaborated, stating, “This government is not promising anything but death for future generations of Palestinians and Israelis both.”
Her passionate plea urges followers to raise awareness, “Share about this on social media. But also do your own research, outside of social media, find out about organisations on the ground in the region, who are working towards stopping this horror in the real world and support them.”
“I am tired, angry and depressed from the passionate political debates on these platforms, when the reality has not changed at all in over a year,” she wrote. She poignantly describes the horrific conditions that many are enduring, stating, “Human beings are being systematically tortured, humiliated, broken, burnt, starved and slaughtered.”
The Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actor called for a return to humanity, urging her audience to seek solace in genuine compassion rather than get lost in the often-divisive discussions prevalent in online forums. “Find your humanity outside of this virtual world and cling to it, nurture it, give it your strength, support and consistency,” she urged.
