India is reportedly planning a false flag operation against Islamabad, using Pakistanis who were detained following inadvertently crossing the border, it emerged on Tuesday.
According to local media reports citing security sources, dozens of Pakistanis, who are currently in Indian prisons, are being moved to conduct the aforementioned operation.
Sources suggested the move was likely intended to mask India’s diplomatic embarrassment and shift focus away from Pakistan.
In May last year, a tourist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir was blamed by New Delhi on Pakistan without presenting evidence, triggering a brief military escalation between the two nations. Islamabad firmly rejected the accusations and called for an impartial investigation.
Subsequently, India carried out lethal air strikes in Punjab and Azad Kashmir. The situation escalated further with both sides launching retaliatory strikes on each other’s airbases over four days, before a ceasefire was reached on May 10 following intervention by the United States.
Earlier, on February 14, 2019, a bombing in Pulwama, in occupied Kashmir, killed more than 40 Indian paramilitary personnel. India claimed the attackers had ties to the Pakistani state, an allegation Pakistan strongly denied.
The crisis intensified when India conducted controversial air strikes inside Pakistan, targeting what it described as a “militant camp” in Balakot, a claim that was widely disputed.
