CHARSADDA: Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday called on the federal government to “do its duty” in maintaining law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa amid the deteriorating security situation.
Addressing a rally in Charsadda, Imran said: “Law and order has deteriorated in Malakand. The KP police are trying their best, but the federal government should take charge and carry out its duty instead of only trying to somehow make me a terrorist or register cases [against me].”
He said the people of KP had made a lot of sacrifices and it was the government’s responsibility to address the worsening law and order, especially in the tribal districts.
He said the “time is not far” when he would give a call for one purpose: that “fair and free” elections be held.
He said there was no other solution to the country’s current issues other than fresh elections that would bring political stability and subsequently, economic stability.
“I am preparing all of you then when I give you the call, you have to set out with me for real freedom.”
Imran claimed the entire nation was saying with one voice that the current “imported government is unacceptable”.
The PTI chief said he had a message for the government and “those standing behind it”, that the nation would not forget and God would not forgive those who were responsible for removing the PTI’s “good functioning government”.
Imran told the government that if it thought it could use cases against the PTI or try to silence the media then “no matter what you do, you can’t win this match. You’ve lost.”
He added that the economy would only continue declining the longer that new elections were not held.
He said that the game would spiral out of control of everyone if peaceful revolution is stopped.
“I am afraid if the door of the peaceful revolution is blocked, then the game will be out of everyone’s hands and then the country will suffer,” he said.
The PTI chairman while urging his followers to take to the streets when he would give call said that Pakistan will not become a slave of any superpower and we should not participate in the war out of fear of anyone. We sacrificed the lives of 80,000 Pakistanis by participating in the war of America, we will have to make the foreign policy of the country free.
Taking a dig at Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chairman, Imran Khan went on to say that Moulana Fazlur Rehman can announce fatwa if he is given money, adding that the imported government was imposed on us though conspiracy.
The PTI chairman further said that the incumbent rulers say that PTI government laid landmines but when we assumed power in 2018, the external deficit was $20 billion and when we left the government on April 9, the external deficit was $16 billion and the income was $31 billion. Despite the pandemic, record exports were being made with record production of four crops during PTI govt’s tenure.
He said that due to the devastating state of the economy, the IMF and World Bank have predicted that Pakistan is heading towards chaos and the harsh reality is that the cabal of thieves currently ruling Pakistan are unable to handle the country’s economy.
“I have a message to those who are behind this regime that people will not forgive them,” he said, adding that “When our government was toppled, the economy was improving.”
He said the situation of flood in Sindh is devastating, but the world is reluctant to provide aid, as they know Asif Zardari the thief was sitting there.
He also pointed to the disturbed law and order situation in Malakand and asked the government to restore the peace as it is government responsibility.
He also pointed out that when our government was toppled, the country’s exports stood at $32 billion dollars. Now, the graph of the economy has declined.
He further said that the government today mostly works to clear themselves of corruption charges.
“They are not interested in developing the economy,” he concluded.
