Former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday appreciated the Supreme Court judges for standing firm and upholding the law and constitution, while the party’s senior vice chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has hailed the SC verdict, saying “today, the Constitution’s rule has been accepted and the Pakistani people’s mandate has been respected”.
“I appreciate our SC judges for standing firm & upholding the Constitution & law, against all manner of threats & abuse. I want to thank Barrister Ali Zafar & his team. I want to thank the people of Punjab for coming out in unprecedented numbers in bye elections against rigging.” The PTI Chairman tweeted.

Meanwhile, the ex-foreign minister said in a press conference “On July 17, the people of Pakistan accepted Imran Khan’s narrative wholeheartedly and we reject this imported government.”
Talking to journalists outside the Supreme Court, the former federal minister said that today, the Constitution’s rule has been accepted and the Pakistani people’s mandate has been respected.
Talking about the CM Punjab election, Qureshi said that Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari trampled the Constitution of Pakistan and did not follow the principles.
The PTI leader further said that the judiciary tolerated the criticism with patience and fulfilled its responsibility. “The coalition government tried to employ delaying tactics to intimidate the judiciary,” he added.
Taking over the presser, PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed termed the decision as Imran Khan’s victory and said that the decision was according to the law and Constitution, adding that the party wants the general elections to be announced immediately.
Asad Umar warns government against imposing governor rule
Former planning minister and PTI Secretary General Asad Umar has warned the government to not even think of imposing governor’s rule in the province of Punjab.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday night Umar said if governor’s rule is imposed, it won’t even last for hours.
Meanwhile, former information and law minister Fawad Chaudhry has termed PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s statement a threat to rebel against the top court’s decision to declare Elahi as the new CM.
He equated Maryam’s statement with what her father, deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif, did in the past by attacking the SC.
Fawad said, “Sicilian Mafia is a term absolutely fit for you. Are you heirs of Narcos?.”
How ridiculous you like your father want Govt to rebel against SC? Are you heirs of Narcos? Sicilian Mafia is a term absolutely fit for you https://t.co/26rqLG8VeY

The proceedings went on for three days as lawyers from all the parties presented their arguments.
