KARACHI: On the orders of District and Sessions Judge West 13, Judicial Magistrate Sajid Ali along with the team of International Lawyers Forum (ILF) raided the Hayat Police Training College Saeedabad in Karachi and rescued a youth who had been imprisoned for the past five days in an underground torture cell.
Today, Judicial Magistrate Sajid Ali along with ILF lawyer Barrister Habibullah Baloch, Jamshed Ali Khawaja, Advocate Salman Farhad, Advocate Tahir Malik and Advocate raided the Saeedabad police training and rescued the youth. Upon being informed of the raid, SHO CTD and the college principal got into the vehicle and easily escaped from the scene.
The kidnappers, including SHO CTD Principal College, have been summoned to court on April 17. According to sources, the college principal was not in charge of the torture cell but the CTD saw the torture cell directly.
In a petition filed by a woman, Tahira Nazir, it was stated that the policemen abducted the youth Talat Nazir outside their resistance, the officers took Talat Nazir to the CTD police station of Civil Lines.
“While the SHO demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 in exchange for his release, the SHO CTD subjected the youth to the worst possible torture for non-payment,” the petition stated.
The woman in the petition said that the SHO was kidnapped the youth in bogus cases and threatened to kill him in a fake counter over non-payment of bribe. Later, the SHO CTD handed over the young Talat Nazir to the police at Hayat Police Training College, Saeedabad, it added.
The in-charge of the underground secret cell operating for the last 13 years in Barracks No. 4 and 5 located in the college, issued the orders to encounter the date of the youth for non-payment of money on the night of April 16 and 17, sources said.
