Saudi Arabia, one of the biggest oil producers in the world, has reported major disruptions to its energy sector following recent attacks, with major impacts on oil production, refining operations, and global supply chains, according to state media.
According to the Saudi Arabia’s state news agency, an attack on an oil pumping station affected the transport of around 700,000 barrels per day. Strikes on the Manifa and Khurais oil fields reduced production by approximately 300,000 barrels per day, while the country’s overall oil production capacity dropped by 600,000 barrels per day.
The report also says that major facilities, including SATORP in Jubail, Ras Tanura, SAMREF in Yanbu, and the Riyadh refinery, were impacted. The damage to these plants is affecting global oil supply.
Saudi media further reported that a fire at processing plants in Ju’aymah disrupted LPG exports. One security official was killed in the attacks, while seven Saudi citizens were injured.
The Saudi news agency warned that if such attacks continue, the global oil supply could face further disruption.
