More and more independent members of the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly are deciding to join the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Over three MNAs and several MPAs have already made this choice.
Sardar Shamsher Mazari, who won a seat in the National Assembly from NA-189, Rajanpur, has officially become a part of the PML-N. Likewise, Muhammad Sohail, elected as an MPA from PP-240, Bahawalnagar, has also shared his decision to join the party.
MPA Khurram Virk from PP-48, Pasrur, has joined the PML-N as well. The PML-N is looking like a favorite to form governments in both the Center and Punjab.
Adding to the good news for the party, Sardar Yaqub Khan Nasir, a PML-N candidate, has won in NA-252, Dukki, Balochistan, with 53,783 votes.
On Saturday, two independent candidates had already declared their allegiance to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. Barrister Aqeel Malik, who secured victory with 85,912 votes in NA-54 Taxila, expressed in a video message that he was a PML-N worker and that his win was a gift to Mian Nawaz Sharif. Similarly, Raja Khurram Nawaz, a former PTI member, who won with 69,699 votes in NA-48 Islamabad, also announced joining the PML-N.
In total, there are nine independent candidates, excluding those backed by PTI, in the National Assembly.
