DUBAI: Yemen’s Houthis on Tuesday claimed to have shot down another US drone over Al-Bayda province in southern Yemen.
In a televised statement on Tuesday, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree announced that a US MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down using a locally made surface-to-air missile, and that supporting videos would be released soon.
It should be noted that the Houthis claimed last Friday to have downed another US MQ-9 drone over the southeastern province of Maareb.
The group, which controls Yemen’s capital and the most populous regions of the country, has been attacking international shipping in the Red Sea since November in support of Palestinians in the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants.
These actions have prompted retaliatory strikes from the US and Britain since February.
