The Higher Education Commission has announced that physical classes will resume in all public and private universities across the country from 1 April 2026.
The decision follows a directive issued on 10 March 2026, under which academic activities were temporarily restricted due to energy conservation measures.
In Sindh, the new academic year will also begin on 1 April. Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah extended best wishes to students and teachers, stating that the academic year will commence in line with decisions taken by the steering committee.
As per these directives, schools will observe two weekly holidays, remaining closed on Saturdays and Sundays until further government orders.
In Punjab, physical classes will likewise resume in all public and private universities from 1 April. The provincial education department has informed students and faculty, confirming that all necessary arrangements have been finalised.
The Higher Education Commission stated that the resumption of on-campus classes will help restore academic continuity and address challenges faced during the period of online learning. Universities have also been instructed to ensure efficient energy use and maintain safeguards within the academic system.
