KARACHI: The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in most cities of the country including Karachi.
According to the details, the Meteorological Department has said that the low air pressure is in central India, due to which there is a possibility of heavy rain in eastern Sindh including Karachi till August 18. Heavy rain may occur in Karachi on August 17 and 18, which will cause heavy rain in the city. There is a risk of flooding.
He said that upper Sindh is likely to receive rains till August 19, while another monsoon system may affect Sindh on August 23 or 24. The Meteorological Department said that due to heavy rains, low-lying areas in Tharparkar, Umarkot, Nawabshah, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, and Mirpurkhas in Sindh are feared to be inundated.

On the other hand, according to the Department of Meteorology, there is a possibility of intermittent heavy rains in Balochistan till August 21, under which there is a possibility of heavy rains in Quetta, Sibi and surrounding areas. Apart from this, heavy rain is expected at few places in Barkhan, Sibi, Zhob, Kalat, Panjgur, Gwadar and Lasbela today.
In Punjab, Sialkot, Murree, Faisalabad, Lahore and Gujranwala are at risk of inundation due to rains, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Bannu, Dir, Khyber, Bajaur, Charsadda, Lucky Marwat, DI Khan and there is a risk of landslides due to heavy rains.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a risk of flooding in rivers and streams due to heavy rains in Chilas and Skardu.
