RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: In a significant escalation of military action, Pakistan Army has successfully targeted and destroyed hideouts of the Afghan Taliban, Fitna al-Khawarij, and Fitna al-Hindustan at 50 different locations.
According to details obtained from security sources, this offensive, carried out under Operation Ghazb-ul-Haqq, underscores a strong commitment to protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and citizens from cross-border terrorism.
The latest operations took place primarily in the sectors of Qila Saifullah, Chaman, Sambaza, Ghadwana, Jani, and Ghazni on the night of March 3 and 4, 2026.
It may be recalled that tensions have been escalating significantly since late February 2026, when the Afghan Taliban launched attacks on Pakistani border forces. Pakistan’s defense officials characterized the situation as an “open war,” signaling a shift from historical support for the Taliban to an active military confrontation.
It is worth mentioning that previous ceasefire agreements, facilitated by third-party Arab and other Muslim nations, have failed to hold, with increasing incidents of violence reported on Pakistan’s side. Not that just, but border skirmishes in recent months have resulted in numerous military casualties, complicating prospects for diplomatic negotiations.
Using heavy artillery and coordinated airstrikes, Pakistan’s forces have reported heavy casualties and material damage inflicted on the Afghan Taliban factions. As of March 4, official sources indicate that approximately 415 Taliban fighters have been killed, with significant losses in terms of captured military installations and weaponry. Furthermore, Pakistani authorities claim to have gained control of strategic territory, particularly near the Ghudwana enclave in Kandahar.
