QUETTA: Reports have emerged Thursday morning, alleging that four people including University of Gwadar Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Razaq Sabir and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Manzoor Ahmed were kidnapped in Balochistan’s Mastung district.
Quetta based reporter told MM News that the two senior academics were traveling together in a car on the RCD highway last evening when they were allegedly intercepted by unknown armed men near Mastung. The assailants reportedly abducted both officials along with their vehicle.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming the incident. Details remain limited and have not been independently verified at this time.
Professor Dr. Abdul Razaq Sabir is widely regarded as a respected academic and administrator in Balochistan. He has been credited with significant contributions to higher education in the province, particularly in the Makran region. His work has focused on expanding access to education and promoting research on Balochi language and literature. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed serves as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university.
As of Thursday morning, local law enforcement has not publicly confirmed the abduction. The motive and identities of the alleged kidnappers remain unknown.
The RCD highway, which connects Quetta to Karachi via Mastung, has previously seen security incidents, though officials have not linked this reported case to any group.
