ISLAMABAD: The secretary Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Monday said that the new Gwadar International airport will be inaugurated on March 23, 2023.
The groundbreaking of the project was done in March 2019.
He made this statement on Monday in Islamabad while briefing the NA Standing Committee on Civil Aviation. The non-developmental budget for the airport in Gwadar is Rs190 million, according to the CAA secretary.
The NGIA is expected to cost $230 million, and funding are being provided for the project by the Chinese government.
New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA) will be capable of handling a combination of ATR 72, Airbus, (A-300), Boeing (B-737), and Boeing (B-747) for domestic as well international routes.
The Chinese side, according to the source, has not yet responded about the project’s completion by March of next year. Pakistan wants the airport to be opened while the coalition administration is in power.
