KARACHI: A school principal accused of sexually harassing teachers and students at a private school in Gulshan-e-Hadeed has been handed over in police custody.
Police produced the accused Irfan Ghafoor in court, a day after he was arrested in the scandal which revealed that dozens of women were sexually harassed and blackmailed with indecent videos.
During the hearing, the public prosecutor disclosed in court that the accused was not alone but rather part of a group. The Investigating Officer requested for physical remand of the accused to probe the matter. The judge asked whether a statement had been taken from the accused.
The investigating officer replied the suspect needs to be interrogated and more devices were to be recovered from his possession He said more than 45 affected women have been identified so far, adding that the accused used to blackmail women.
The public prosecutor said other members of the group need to be identified after investigating the accused. The officer said the recovered mobile phone of the accused will also be forensically examined.

The court handed over the accused to the police on physical remand for seven days. The court asked the police for a progress report on the next hearing.
The police investigation team decided to record statements of the school staff in the case pertaining to the leaked videos of teachers at the school.
Police are interrogating the school principal who made videos of the physical abuse of women. So far, no affected woman has come forward to record her comment.
Police conducted raids to arrest other suspects. Accused Ali Kashif and Shakeel, who have access to the CCTV camera, were not present at their residences.
Police said both culprits are suspected of involvement in blackmailing women. It has been revealed that the school was established seven months ago and was not registered.
