A startling revelation has emerged during the ongoing rescue and search operation at the Gul Plaza on M.A. Jinnah Road. Deputy Commissioner (DC) South, Javed Nabi Khoso, informed the media that two dumpers loaded with debris from the site have gone missing.
Speaking to the press, DC South assured the victims and shopkeepers that every item recovered from the rubble is being held “in trust” by the administration.
However, he disclosed that two debris dumpers went missing yesterday after leaving the site and failing to reach the designated dumping point. He emphasized that the authorities would trace their whereabouts shortly.
Providing an update on the five-day rescue mission, Javed Nabi Khoso stated.
The process of removing rubble has been ongoing for the past two days.
So far, 28 bodies have been recovered from the site.
Over 40% of the building has collapsed.
To prevent further structural failure, workers are currently removing heavy air conditioning units from the building to reduce its overall weight.
The Deputy Commissioner noted that the operation is proceeding with extreme caution due to technical complexities and the unstable condition of the remaining structure.
