KARACHI: Rain continues intermittently in different areas of the Sindh capital, due to which green bus service has been suspended.

The federal government has also announced a holiday today due to the same reason. According to details, the roads turned into rivers and canals due to continuous rain in Karachi. There was heavy rain in various areas of the city including Shariah Faisal, Liaquatabad, Sadar, I.I Chundrigar Road, Malir, Airport, North Karachi, Landhi, and Korangi.

The Meteorological Department has predicted thundershowers in the afternoon, but the rains have been heavy since this morning. Experts said that light drizzle and heavy rain would continue till the night of July 26.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, another rain system may also camp in Sindh from July 30. K Electric has announced the closure of 180 feeders in the name of safety measures due to which the citizens are facing load shedding and power outage.

Due to continuous heavy rain, rainwater entered the houses in various areas including Landhi, Korangi, and Quaidabad. Due to the boiling of sewers in many areas, the sewage system was disrupted. Underpasses filled with water. 

The authorities have decided to keep the Green Line bus service suspended today. On Sunday night too, the green bus was stopped before the scheduled time. In view of the heavy rain, after the Sindh government, the federal government also announced the closure of its offices in the Karachi and Hyderabad divisions.

Private and government offices will also remain closed due to rain. The Federal Cabinet Division has issued a holiday notification, according to which there is a general holiday in the federal government offices in Karachi and Hyderabad, but the offices working in rain emergency, including essential services, have been ordered to remain open.
