ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health (NIH) has said the government will start a vaccination campaign on Monday (today) to vaccinate kids between 5 and 11 years against Covid-19.
The immunization campaign will begin in selected districts of Punjab, Sindh and Islamabad on September 19.
To reach the greatest number of children possible, the initial phase of the vaccination campaign will involve visits to families, schools, and religious institutions.
Officials have chosen to give the vaccine only with the parents’ permission in order to decrease vaccine refusals and improve acceptance.
The second shot must be given between 21 and 56 days after the first one in order to provide the most protection, according to NIH.
The NCOC made the decision to contact Covax earlier in February in order to begin immunizing kids between the ages of five and eleven. Estimates place the number of children in this age range in Pakistan at up to 43.7 million.
