ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Dr Sania Nishtar has said that transparency was the topmost priority of PTI government as the government in the leadership of PM Imran Khan promoted merit and transparency in Ehsaas programme.
Chairing the meeting of officials to monitor compliance to Ehsaas Governance and Integrity Policy and track progress, Dr. Sania said Ehsaas entities have shown improvements in ensuring transparency and integrity in Ehass systems.
The meeting was attended by the officials of BISP, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Trust for Voluntary Organizations and Higher Education Commission.
The policy aims to ensure that organizations involved in the delivery of welfare are effective and responsive to the needs of the disadvantaged populations, she added.
Zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against corruption resulting in transparency in government departments and improvement in public service delivery, besides improving the country’s image globally, she said.
She also invited researchers and private institutions to come forward and collaborate with the government for the uplift of the poor and marginalized segments of society.
Dr Sania hoped that the Ehsaas programme would bring the deserving segments of society out of the poverty trap soon.
