ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari has said that the government is not bringing a law on public execution in rape cases.

Talking to media, Shireen Mazari said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has opposed the public execution of the rapist. The premier said that public execution cannot be a law, Mazari maintained.

The prime minister said that how can such a law be made due to international agreements. As per Shirin Mazari, she is taking steps to prevent abuse cases.

“There will be a center for abuse cases which will follow up cases in the courts. In abuse cases, families can no longer compromise. There will also be women police to investigate abuse cases,” she added.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda had said that he would bring a law for the public execution of rapists.

He had said that the incident of rape of a woman on the motorway was unfortunate. Last week, most members of the Senate called for the public execution of rapists.

Earlier, Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Atharmanullah had remarked in a case against physical violence against children in educational institutions that public execution would not improve society, human behavior needs to change.
