ISLAMABAD: Government employees from various government departments and ministries are holding a protest demonstration outside the Parliament House on Tuesday, demanding a salary increase ahead of the federal budget announcement.
The protest was called by Rehman Ali Bajwa, Chief Coordinator of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA), representing staff from multiple departments under a joint platform.
A large number of employees, carrying banners of their respective unions and associations, gathered to press for their demands. However, police stopped them near the Cabinet Secretariat, preventing them from marching towards the Parliament and a clash has been reported.
Barbed wire was placed in front of the Cabinet Secretariat on Constitution Avenue as a security measure. Protesters chanted slogans against the government.

In anticipation of the protest, heavy police deployment was made around the Parliament House, Pak Secretariat, and other sensitive areas, amid the ongoing budget session.
The Islamabad administration stated it was fully prepared to deal with any untoward situation. Security officials, including the SSP Security and SP City, were present at the site, while law enforcement agencies were directed to prevent entry into the Red Zone and ensure peace.
Citizens were advised to avoid unnecessary movement towards the Red Zone and use alternate routes.
Earlier, the AGEGA delegation had met with PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, demanding that the Disparity Reduction Allowance be merged into the basic pay, among other demands.
